Thank you for your interest in volunteering for True Dungeon at San Japan! Our application process is thorough so that we can best match your interests and skills with a volunteer position.

San Japan will be different than most of the in-person conventions we do. It is a 3-day convention, and the dungeon itself will only be open for two of those days. As such, the shifts look rather different and some volunteer options (such as fill-in roles) are not available. Please read the commitment requirements carefully before applying.

 

We have three different levels of commitment for True Dungeon Volunteers:

• Full Time -- Attend the All Hands Meeting on Friday morning, one event shift on Friday afternoon (August 30^th, approximately 8 hours with one short break and one meal break), one event shift on Saturday (August 31^st, approximately 10 hours with two short breaks and one meal break), one hour of teardown on Saturday evening (August 31^st, to be completed immediately following dungeon shift), and a short teardown/loadout shift on Sunday morning (September 1^st).
• Local Install & Dismantle -- Volunteer for dungeon installation shifts on Wednesday and Thursday (August 28^th and 29^th) as well as teardown shifts on Saturday evening (August 31^st, starting at 8:00pm) and briefly on Sunday morning (September 1^st, beginning at 10:00am).
• Part Time -- Attend the All Hands Meeting on Friday morning (August 30^th, approx. 10:00am) and one event shift (Friday, August 30^th, or Saturday, August 31^st). Part Time volunteers scheduled to work a Friday event shift may also be asked to work two (2) hours of teardown on Saturday (August 31^st, starting at 9:00pm). Because we are only taking one 4-room dungeon to San Japan we do not anticipate needing Part Time volunteers. Please take this into account when filling out your application.

** Full Time Volunteer Benefits **

If you are selected as a Full Time volunteer, you will receive the following benefits:

• Stipend:  If you complete all your shifts, at the end of the loadout shift on Sunday (unless noted otherwise), you will be given all the swag listed below plus a stipend check for an amount depending on your volunteer position. Though they are higher than 2023 stipend amounts, stipends for San Japan are lower than our other in-person conventions for 2024 to reflect the reduced number of event days.
  • Coach or Combat DM: $450 
  • Specialized Roles (such as traveling NPCs and NPCs that also serve as DM): $400
  • Single Room NPCs that work with a DM (i.e. combat NPCs): $300
  • Puzzle DM or General Volunteer: $250
• An EXCLUSIVE Ultra Rare token:  Full time volunteers receive an Ultra Rare, limited-edition, volunteer-exclusive token (Ankh of the Ancients).
• TD T-Shirt and Swag Bag
• FREE 3-day San Japan badge (will be distributed after Friday morning All Hands Meeting)
• FREE hotel spot: We have a limited number of spots in hotel rooms. Out-of-town volunteers may qualify for a free spot in a 4-person hotel room with two queen or double beds.  
  Note:  Your hotel room will be available for Thursday check in so you can arrive on that day to ensure your attendance at the mandatory All Hands Meeting and Training on Friday morning. You are expected to attend this mandatory meeting unless you communicate an acceptable reason for missing it. Should any travel mishap prevent your attendance, please contact volunteer@truedungeon.com immediately to let us know.
• Bonus for volunteering at multiple events: If you successfully volunteer Full-Time at three different events in calendar year 2024, you get the extra bonus of an Ultra Rare token of your choice from the 2023 or 2024 print runs (subject to availability). This applies to both virtual and in-person events. This bonus also stacks with Part-Time events both virtual and in-person. For example, if a vol works two Part-Time shifts for VTD 20, VTD 21, and VTD 22 (six shifts total), and also works Full-Time at Gen Con (three in-dungeon shifts) they would be eligible for a PYP. PYPs are tracked by HQ, and you may request your current PYP status at any time by e-mailing volunteer@truedungeon.com.
  • NOTE: Please bear in mind that while in-dungeon shifts are what get counted toward the total, volunteers are still expected to show up for install/teardown/tech check/etc. shifts as required by their role at each event. Failure to attend those shifts without prior written permission from TD HQ may disqualify a vol from the PYP program.

 

** Full Time Volunteer Commitment **

If you are a Full Time volunteer, you are required to help out during these hours at San Japan 2024:

• Friday (August 30^th):  Attend the All-Hands Meeting and Training at 10:00am. This meeting is mandatory.  If you have work or travel issues that will impact your attendance, PLEASE let us know BEFORE accepting your schedule so we can see if we can accommodate the issue.
• Friday and Saturday (August 30^th & 31^st):  You will work both days of the event. Friday’s shift is roughly 8 hours with a short break in the first half of the day and a longer meal break around dinnertime. Saturday’s shift is longer (roughly 10 hours) with a short break in the first half of the day, a longer meal break in midafternoon, and another short break closer to the end of the shift. Saturday's shift will be followed by 1 hour of teardown time.
• Sunday (September 1^st):  You will report at 10:00am to help transport the packed dungeon materials to the loading dock so it can get on the truck. At the end of this shift, you will receive your stipend check and swag mentioned above, provided you have fulfilled your volunteer commitments.

You must be available at all the times listed above to be eligible for Full Time status.  Please do NOT make travel arrangements outside of this schedule unless you have prearranged an alternative schedule with TD HQ.  We cannot guarantee hotel accommodations if you do not have the details arranged with TD HQ BEFORE you accept your schedule.

** Part Time Volunteer Benefits **

If you are selected as a Part Time volunteer, you will receive the following benefits:

• Stipend:  If you complete all your shifts, at the end of the 2-hour dismantle shift on Sunday (unless noted otherwise), you will be given all the swag listed below plus a stipend check for an amount depending on your volunteer position. Though they are higher than 2023 stipend amounts, stipends for San Japan are lower than our other in-person conventions for 2024 to reflect the reduced number of event days.
  • Coach or Combat DM: $225 (part time)
  • Specialized Roles (such as traveling NPCs that also serve as DM): $200 (part time)
  • Single Room NPCs that work with a DM (i.e. combat NPCs): $150
  • Puzzle DM or General Volunteer: $125
• An EXCLUSIVE Rare token:  Part time volunteers receive a Rare, limited-edition, volunteer-exclusive token (Bead of the Hero).
• TD T-Shirt and Swag Bag
• FREE 3-day San Japan badge (will be distributed after Friday morning All Hands Meeting)
• Bonus for volunteering at multiple events: If you successfully volunteer for a total of NINE (9) Part-Time shifts at events in calendar year 2024, you get the extra bonus of an Ultra Rare token of your choice from the 2023 or 2024 print runs (subject to availability). You earn this "PYP" for every nine full shifts you work, and it applies to both virtual and in-person events. This bonus also stacks with Full-Time events both virtual and in-person. For example, if a vol works two Part-Time shifts for VTD 20, VTD 21, and VTD 22 (six shifts total), and also works Full-Time at Gen Con (three in-dungeon shifts) they would be eligible for a PYP. PYPs are tracked by HQ, and you may request your current PYP status at any time by e-mailing volunteer@truedungeon.com.

**PLEASE NOTE: Part time volunteers are not eligible for a spot in a TD-provided hotel room. If you require a hotel room you will either need to provide it yourself or volunteer Full Time.

 

** Part Time Volunteer Commitment **

If you are a Part Time volunteer, you are required to help out during these hours at San Japan 2024:

• Friday (August 30^th):  Attend the All-Hands Meeting and Training at 10:00am. This meeting is mandatory.  If you have work or travel issues that will impact your attendance, PLEASE let us know BEFORE accepting your schedule so we can see if we can accommodate the issue.
• Friday and Saturday (August 30^th and/or 31st):  You will work one of the two event days. Friday’s shift is roughly 8 hours with breaks. Part Time volunteers who work the Friday shift may also be asked to put in two hours of teardown on Saturday night. Saturday’s shift is approximately 10 hours (includes two short breaks and a longer meal break). Part Time Volunteers who work the longer dungeon shift on Saturday are not expected to work teardown.
• Sunday (September 1^st):  You will report at 10:00am to help transport the packed dungeon materials to the loading dock so it can get on the truck. At the end of this shift, you will receive your stipend check and swag mentioned above, provided you have fulfilled your volunteer commitments.

You must be available at all the times listed above to be eligible for Part Time status.  Please do NOT make travel arrangements outside of this schedule unless you have prearranged an alternative schedule with TD HQ.  We cannot guarantee hotel accommodations if you do not have the details arranged with TD HQ BEFORE you accept your schedule.

• Stipend:  If you complete all your shifts, at the end of the dismantle shift on Sunday (unless noted otherwise), you will be given all the swag listed below plus a stipend check for $400. 
• An EXCLUSIVE Ultra Rare token:  Local Install & Dismantle volunteers receive an Ultra Rare, limited-edition, volunteer-exclusive token (Ankh of the Ancients).
• TD T-Shirt and Swag Bag
• FREE 3-day San Japan badge (will be distributed after completion of Thursday installation shift)

** Local Install and Dismantle Commitment **

• Wednesday and Thursday (August 28^th and 29^th):  Full day install shift starting at approximtely10:00am with one hour meal break (TD does not provide food and/or beverage).
• Saturday (August 31^st):  Dismantle shift starting from 8:00 PM.
• Sunday (September 1^st):  You will report at 10:00am to help transport the packed dungeon materials to the loading dock so it can get on the truck. At the end of this shift, you will receive your stipend check and swag mentioned above, provided you have fulfilled your volunteer commitments.

You must be available at all the times listed above to be eligible for a Local Install Group (LIG) role.  Please do NOT make travel arrangements outside of this schedule unless you have prearranged an alternative schedule with TD HQ.

ANYONE interested in volunteering must fill out the volunteer application by May 31^st, 2024. All volunteers MUST fill out all the applicable fields. This information will be kept secure, and it will be used to select and schedule all volunteers. While we will accept applications AFTER 5/31/2024, scheduling will begin 6/1/2024.  Apply before that date in order to have the best chance at getting the volunteer role you prefer.

• Fill-In -- Volunteer for a Friday morning All Hands Meeting and one event shift (Friday, Saturday, OR Saturday) (August 29^th – August 31^st). Please be advised that we rarely take Fill-In volunteers outside of Gen Con. You may have a better chance being accepted by volunteering for Part Time or Local Install & Dismantle.

Hotel rooms will be booked for a THURSDAY check in and SUNDAY check out. Additional hotel nights are booked on a limited case by case basis and MUST be arranged with TD HQ no later than July 1, 2025. Extended hotel stays are very limited and may require additional volunteer commitments (such as extra install and dismantle shifts) depending on the dates needed. We CANNOT guarantee spots in these rooms until it is cleared with TD HQ.
• Bonus for volunteering at multiple events: If you successfully volunteer Full-Time at three different events in calendar year 2025, you get the extra bonus of an Ultra Rare token of your choice from the 2024 or 2025 standard pack (subject to availability). This applies to both virtual and in-person events. This bonus also stacks with Part-Time events both virtual and in-person. • Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (August 29^th – August 31^st):  You will work all three days of the event. The shifts are shorter on Friday and Sunday with a long shift on Saturday.
• Sunday (August 31^st): You will work 4 hours of dismantle on Sunday after your dungeon shift ends. We dismantle the event and pack up the materials. At the end of this shift, you will receive your stipend check and swag mentioned above, provided you have fulfilled your volunteer commitments.
• **PLEASE NOTE** Thursday (August 28^th): Depending on the size of the Local Install & Dismantle team, Full Time event vols may be asked to do a single installation shift on Thursday as well. This shift will last from 12:00pm to 5:00pm. We ask that you please indicate in the Additional Information section of your application if your travel arrangements may impact your ability to take part in this shift.

You must be available at all the times listed above to be eligible for Full-Time status.  Please do NOT make travel arrangements outside of this schedule unless you have prearranged an alternative schedule with TD HQ.  We cannot guarantee hotel accommodations if you do not have the details arranged with TD HQ BEFORE you accept your schedule.

• Monday (September 1^st): Work a dismantle shift from 9:00am – 5:00pm. This shift may be dismissed early if we finish dismantling the dungeon and loading the truck before 5:00pm.

You must be available at all the times listed above to be eligible for LIG status. Please do NOT make travel arrangements outside of this schedule unless you have prearranged an alternative schedule with TD HQ.

** Fill-In Volunteer Benefits **

If you are selected as a Fill-In volunteer, you will receive the following benefits:

• If you complete your shift, you will be able to pick up True Dungeon Volunteer swag on Sunday (August 31^st) from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

** Fill-In Volunteer Commitment **

If you are a Fill-In volunteer, you are required to help out during these hours at San Japan 2025:

• Friday (August 29^th):  You will have an All-Hands Meeting and Training on Friday morning. This shift is mandatory. If you have work or travel issues that will impact your attendance, PLEASE let us know BEFORE accepting your schedule so we can see if we can accommodate the issue.
• Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (August 29^th – August 31^st): You will work ONE of the three days of the event. The shifts are shorter on Friday and Sunday. Priority will be given to Fill-In volunteers with Saturday availability, as this will be our busiest day.

IMPORTANT: You must be available for all the times listed above to be eligible for Fill-In status. Please make sure you review the dates and requirements carefully before completing your application. Exceptions cannot be made!

Volunteer Commitment for Virtual TD

^{September 12th – 14th  (Friday – Sunday)}

 

Location Requirements

While this is a "virtual" event, some volunteers must physically come to Carbondale, IL. This is worked out on a case-by-case basis with each volunteer, but generally speaking all NPC actors need to be physically present at or near the TD Workshop during the event weekend. All Golems must be in Carbondale. We are able to train Virtual DMs remotely, so please consider that as an option if travel is not possible. Please indicate by checking the box on the next page if you are UNABLE to physically come to Carbondale.

Virtual DM Requirements

Due to the "virtual" nature of this event, ALL volunteers applying for DM positions must possess at least intermediate computer skills, have adequate internet, be familiar with the Windows operating system, and provide their own computer systems*, the specifications of which include:

• OS: Windows 10 or above (Sorry, Macs are too difficult to support on this one.)
• CPU: Core i7 CPU (or AMD equivalent) or better
• GPU: DirectX 10.1 compatible GPU
• RAM: 12GB RAM or better
• Storage: Solid State Drive preferred
• Peripherals: Headset with a good microphone. A second monitor is helpful, but not required. You may opt to use a webcam so your players can see you in training if you wish.
• Experience: Above average computing skills and previous experience with OBS/Streamlabs is a huge plus. Please include any relevant experience in your "additional info" on the last page of your application.
• Note: We're intentionally setting these requirements a bit higher and narrower than is strictly necessary. We want to avoid unforeseen difficulties and configurations we haven't tested ourselves. Please be willing to close background processes, etc., in order to free up resources if necessary. 

The last page of this application asks for a URL that shares your system specs with us. Please visit http://specr.me and follow the instructions. You will be given a URL that shows us your specs!

*We have a limited number of "loaner" machines. Check the box on the next page if you are interested in DMing but do not have a machine that is up to spec. Note that other requirements like having at least intermediate computer skills and adequate internet still apply.

 

There are two levels of commitment for Virtual True Dungeon Volunteers, however preference is given to volunteers able to make a Full-Time commitment for ease of scheduling. Part-Time volunteers who have paired up with someone to split a Full-Time position will be given preference over a lone Part-Time volunteer request. If you have paired up with another volunteer to split a Full-Time position, please enter this information in the "Additional Information" field of the application step 3 of 3, before hitting "Submit".

 

Approximate event start times for VTD 32 are as follows. These are the times that run slots START each day. Each run lasts for approximately two hours, so your scheduled time may run significantly later. Your schedule will depend on the position for which you are selected. NPCs and golems must be available until after the last party has gone through their rooms. The schedule of a VDM is dependent upon their position in the Run of Show. VDMs that wish to be placed earlier/later on the Run of Show make sure to reply to the Run of Show Requests email that will be sent out prior to the event! All times listed are Central Time (Carbondale local time).

• Friday 4:36 pm - 9:00 pm 
• Saturday & Sunday 10:00 am - 7:00 pm

 

• Full-Time -- Volunteer Full-Time (DM Training/Playtest Run in advance of event, Tech Check on Thursday before event, event days Friday - Sunday. If you are in a role OTHER than DM and have not been trained in that position, the DM Training/Playtest Run is optional and virtual training will be arranged prior to the event weekend.)
• Part-Time -- Volunteer one or two days. Part-Time volunteers must be able to participate in the volunteer training required for their position. The easiest way to secure a Part-Time position is to team up with another volunteer to split the Full-Time shift. This makes scheduling easier. Stipend and swag is dependent on the number of days that you volunteer. Full-Time volunteers will be scheduled first, with two Part-Time volunteers splitting a Full-Time position scheduled next.

**Full-Time Commitment**

If you are a Full-Time volunteer, you are required to volunteer during these hours:

• Monday evening TBD (date tentative and subject to change - volunteers will receive e-mail notice of final playtest date and time): Playtest of the module at 5:30pm. This is scheduled so far out in order to give the programmers the most time we can to make any changes for issues discovered during the playtest. NPCs in attendance will be expected to read their dialogue from the module during this playtest.
• Thursday, September 11th (DMs only): DM Tech Check at 5:30 pm Dungeon (Central) Time. Other positions will have pre-event training at a different time to be determined after schedules go out.
• Friday, September 12th – Sunday, September 14th: Work VTD event during hours listed above. There is one shift per day, with multiple break periods during each shift. Volunteers who are in a TD-provided hotel can choose to leave at the end of the event Sunday OR you can stay overnight and checkout Monday. TD HQ will contact volunteers in TD-provided hotel rooms to discuss arrival and departure dates prior to the event so that reservations will be accurate.

You must be available at ALL the times listed above (role dependent) to be eligible for Full-Time status. Please do NOT make travel arrangements outside of this schedule unless you have pre-arranged an alternative schedule with TD HQ. We cannot guarantee hotel accommodations if you do not have the details arranged with TD HQ BEFORE you accept your schedule.

ANYONE interested in volunteering must fill out a volunteer application as soon as possible. We want to begin the scheduling process now, so the earlier you fill out your application, the earlier we can release the schedule. All volunteers MUST fill out all the applicable fields. This information is kept secure and is used to select and schedule all volunteers. While we may be able to accept applications AFTER 7/31/2025, scheduling begins well before that date. Apply before that date to have the best chance at getting the volunteer role you prefer.

Schedules are sent approximately three weeks before the first day of the event from the True Dungeon Volunteer Coordinator to confirm your duties at VTD. We have four different levels of commitment for True Dungeon Volunteers:

• Full Time -- Volunteer for a Wednesday Installation shift, an All Hands Meeting on Wednesday evening, one event shift each day (Thursday - Saturday), and four (4) hours of dismantle/teardown on Sunday (October 15^th - 19^th).
• Local Install & Dismantle -- Volunteer for dungeon installation shifts on Tuesday and Wednesday (October 14^th and 15^th) as well as a dismantle/teardown shift on Sunday morning (October 19^th).
• Part Time -- Volunteer for an All Hands Meeting on Wednesday night (October 15^th) two event shifts (Thursday, Friday, or Saturday) and two (2) hours of dismantle/teardown on Sunday (October 19^th). 
• Fill In -- Volunteer for an All Hands Meeting on Wednesday night (October 15^th) one event shift (Thursday, Friday, OR Saturday, October 16^th - 18^th).

If you are selected as a Full Time volunteer, you will receive the following benefits:

• FREE hotel spot: We have a limited number of spots in hotel rooms.  Out of town volunteers may qualify for a free spot in a 4-person hotel room with two queen or double beds.  Hotel rooms will be booked for a TUESDAY check in and SUNDAY check out. Additional hotel nights are booked on a LIMITED case by case basis and MUST be arranged with TD HQ no later than August 31, 2025. Extended hotel stays are very limited and may require additional volunteer commitments depending on the dates needed. We CANNOT guarantee a spot in extended room bookings until they are cleared with TD HQ.
• Bonus for volunteering at multiple events: If you successfully volunteer Full-Time at three different events in calendar year 2025, you get the extra bonus of an Ultra Rare token of your choice from the 2024 or 2025 print runs (subject to availability). • Wednesday (October 15^th):  Work a dungeon installation shift lasting approximately 8 hours with a meal break (TD does not provide food and/or beverage). You will then attend a mandatory All-Hands Meeting and Training on Wednesday evening. If you have work or travel issues that will impact your attendance, PLEASE let us know BEFORE accepting your schedule so we can see if we can accommodate the issue.
• Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (October 16^th - 18^th):  You will work all three days of the event.  The shift is approximately 9 hours with multiple breaks.  
• Sunday (October 19^th):  You will work 4 hours of dismantle on Sunday.  We dismantle the event and pack up the materials.  At the end of this shift, you will receive your stipend check and swag mentioned above, provided you have fulfilled your volunteer commitments.

You must be available at all the times listed above to be eligible for Full Time status.  Please do NOT make travel arrangements outside of this schedule unless you have prearranged an alternative schedule with TD HQ.  We cannot guarantee hotel accommodations if you do not have the details arranged with TD HQ BEFORE you accept your schedule.

Volunteer Commitment for Virtual TD

^{November 7th – 9th  (Friday – Sunday)}

 

Location Requirements

While this is a "virtual" event, some volunteers must physically come to Carbondale, IL. This is worked out on a case-by-case basis with each volunteer, but generally speaking all NPC actors need to be physically present at or near the TD Workshop during the event weekend. All Golems must be in Carbondale. We are able to train Virtual DMs remotely, so please consider that as an option if travel is not possible. Please indicate by checking the box on the next page if you are UNABLE to physically come to Carbondale.

Virtual DM Requirements

Due to the "virtual" nature of this event, ALL volunteers applying for DM positions must possess at least intermediate computer skills, have adequate internet, be familiar with the Windows operating system, and provide their own computer systems*, the specifications of which include:

• OS: Windows 10 or above (Sorry, Macs are too difficult to support on this one.)
• CPU: Core i7 CPU (or AMD equivalent) or better
• GPU: DirectX 10.1 compatible GPU
• RAM: 12GB RAM or better
• Storage: Solid State Drive preferred
• Peripherals: Headset with a good microphone. A second monitor is helpful, but not required. You may opt to use a webcam so your players can see you in training if you wish.
• Experience: Above average computing skills and previous experience with OBS/Streamlabs is a huge plus. Please include any relevant experience in your "additional info" on the last page of your application.
• Note: We're intentionally setting these requirements a bit higher and narrower than is strictly necessary. We want to avoid unforeseen difficulties and configurations we haven't tested ourselves. Please be willing to close background processes, etc., in order to free up resources if necessary. 

The last page of this application asks for a URL that shares your system specs with us. Please visit http://specr.me and follow the instructions. You will be given a URL that shows us your specs!

*We have a limited number of "loaner" machines. Check the box on the next page if you are interested in DMing but do not have a machine that is up to spec. Note that other requirements like having at least intermediate computer skills and adequate internet still apply.

 

There are two levels of commitment for Virtual True Dungeon Volunteers, however preference is given to volunteers able to make a Full-Time commitment for ease of scheduling. Part-Time volunteers who have paired up with someone to split a Full-Time position will be given preference over a lone Part-Time volunteer request. If you have paired up with another volunteer to split a Full-Time position, please enter this information in the "Additional Information" field of the application step 3 of 3, before hitting "Submit".

 

Approximate event start times for VTD 33 are as follows. These are the times that run slots START each day. Each run lasts for approximately two hours, so your scheduled time may run significantly later. Your schedule will depend on the position for which you are selected. NPCs and golems must be available until after the last party has gone through their rooms. The schedule of a VDM is dependent upon their position in the Run of Show. VDMs that wish to be placed earlier/later on the Run of Show make sure to reply to the Run of Show Requests email that will be sent out prior to the event! All times listed are Central Time (Carbondale local time).

• Friday 4:36 pm - 9:00 pm 
• Saturday & Sunday 10:00 am - 7:00 pm

 

• Full-Time -- Volunteer Full-Time (DM Training/Playtest Run in advance of event, Tech Check on Thursday before event, event days Friday - Sunday. If you are in a role OTHER than DM and have not been trained in that position, the DM Training/Playtest Run is optional and virtual training will be arranged prior to the event weekend.)
• Part-Time -- Volunteer one or two days. Part-Time volunteers must be able to participate in the volunteer training required for their position. The easiest way to secure a Part-Time position is to team up with another volunteer to split the Full-Time shift. This makes scheduling easier. TD HQ will contact volunteers in TD-provided hotel rooms to discuss arrival and departure dates prior to the event so that reservations will be accurate.

You must be available at ALL the times listed above (role dependent) to be eligible for Full-Time status. Please do NOT make travel arrangements outside of this schedule unless you have pre-arranged an alternative schedule with TD HQ. We cannot guarantee hotel accommodations if you do not have the details arranged with TD HQ BEFORE you accept your schedule.

**Part-Time Benefits**

Part-Time volunteers receive the benefits listed below after successfully completing their shifts. Physical items are shipped to remote volunteers shortly after their final Monday shift. In-person volunteers receive their physical items after their final Monday shift.

• Stipend: If you satisfactorily complete all your shifts, you receive all the swag shown below plus a check for an amount depending on your volunteer position.
  • Trained VTD DM or Coach:
    • $65 per Friday shift, $125 Saturday or Sunday shift remote or onsite local (no hotel)
  • VTD NPC (actor):
    • NOT A Part-Time POSITION
  • VTD Innkeeper, Epilogue, or Bluehand (backstage crew):
    • $50 per Friday shift, $100 per Saturday or Sunday remote or onsite local (no hotel)
  • VTD Golem (camera-person):
    • $65 per Friday shift, $125 Saturday or Sunday shift onsite local (no hotel)
• An EXCLUSIVE Rare Token: Part-Time volunteers receive a Rare, limited-edition, volunteer-exclusive tokens: Charm of the Hero (R)!
• One Completion Token: Yellow Bifrost Charm (R)
• Both Survivor pins.
• One XP card.
• Twenty treasure draws (actual treasure, not chips for future draws).
• Bonus for volunteering at multiple events: If you successfully volunteer Full-Time at three different events in calendar year 2025, you get the extra bonus of an Ultra Rare token of your choice from the 2024 or 2025 standard print runs (subject to availability). This applies to both virtual and in-person events. This bonus also stacks with Part-Time events both virtual and in-person. For example, if a vol works two Part-Time shifts for VTD 31, VTD 32, and VTD 33 (six shifts total), and also works Full-Time at Gen Con (three in-dungeon shifts) they would be eligible for a PYP. PYPs are tracked by HQ, and you may request your current PYP status at any time by e-mailing volunteer@truedungeon.com.
  • NOTE: Please bear in mind that while in-dungeon shifts are what is counted toward the total, volunteers are still expected to show up for install/teardown/tech check/etc. shifts as required by their role at each event. Failure to attend those shifts without prior written permission from TD HQ may disqualify a vol from the PYP program.

 

**Part-Time Commitment**

If you are a Part-Time volunteer, you are required to volunteer during these hours:

• Monday evening TBD (date tentative and subject to change - volunteers will receive e-mail notice of final playtest date and time): Playtest of the module at 5:30pm. This is scheduled so far out in order to give the programmers the most time we can to make any changes for issues discovered during the playtest. NPCs in attendance will be expected to read their dialogue from the module during this playtest.
• Thursday, November 6th (DMs only): DM Tech Check at 5:30 pm Dungeon (Central) Time. Other positions will have pre-event training at a different time to be determined after schedules go out.
• Friday, November 7th – Sunday, November 9th: Work VTD event during hours listed above. There is one shift per day, with multiple break periods during each shift.

You must be available at ALL the times listed above to be eligible for Part-Time status. If you team up with another volunteer to split a Full-Time shift, preference will be given in scheduling over a lone Part-Time volunteer.

ANYONE interested in volunteering must fill out a volunteer application as soon as possible. We want to begin the scheduling process now, so the earlier you fill out your application, the earlier we can release the schedule. All volunteers MUST fill out all the applicable fields. This information is kept secure and is used to select and schedule all volunteers. While we may be able to accept applications AFTER 9/30/2025, scheduling begins well before that date. Apply before that date to have the best chance at getting the volunteer role you prefer.

Schedules are sent approximately three weeks before the first day of the event from the True Dungeon Volunteer Coordinator to confirm your duties at VTD. However, if everyone gets their application in early, we can send schedules out early. Please help us get scheduling done early by applying NOW.
